Origin: Uji, Kyoto
Okumidori is famous for being an easy-to-drink matcha because of its delicate flavor profile. This matcha is ground ultra-fine and features layers of floral and almond undertones, light cream texture, and a vegetal, lingering finish. Although Okumidori is a very high-quality matcha on its own, it becomes even more complex when featured in a blend, suitable for lattes.
Okumidori accounts for about 3% of Japan's harvest, although its flavor profile varies slightly depending on the region where it was grown. Since this matcha is sourced from Uji, it has a natural umami profile characteristic of the region.
It is best appreciated without sugar to allow the natural sweetness and delicate notes to shine. Lower the water temperature to 150°F (65°C) and reduce milk volume to better highlight the delicate flavor notes of this blend. This tea is versatile enough to be enjoyed as koicha, usucha, or a latte.
This matcha is perfect when paired with desserts for your afternoon tea.
